The trend of living rooms with kitchenettes continues strong, and is evident not only in house designs, but also in apartments being created today by developers from all over the country. It would be a shame not to use a large living room to also create your own home bar. A boring island with an induction cooktop in the middle? It is a template idea and, while it works well, some may find it boring. Although it is still not very popular in Poland, the home bar is increasingly replacing it around the world. It is popular because it is not only practical, but also easy to set up - especially since you need to pay attention to just two basics (and many accessories, which can be chosen with more freedom).
First of All, Focus on the Table
The centerpiece of our living room bar will be the right table, or island. The first thing we should pay attention to is the space we are able to allocate for the bar. The amount of space will define its form, as well as the width and length of the table. The bar can be treated as a starting point for arranging the living room, or as a complement to it, and while in the former case we have many more options, the second option involves adjusting its appearance and style to the furniture already in the living room.
When choosing a table, we can go for modern or classic. If we are not sure what we want the end result to look like, let us opt for a wooden option. This works in absolutely any style, is timeless and universal. Moreover, it is also durable and sturdy, which is of great importance in this element of decor (remember that we will have to properly care for the wood). Let us not forget that we can also choose metal and plastic tables - but these will work almost exclusively in modern or industrial arrangements. Aiming for elegance, let us focus more on darker colors - unless they clash with our main arrangement. Remember that if the living room bar is adjacent to the kitchenette, the kitchen furniture will be the determinant here. We will have more freedom with a living room serving only its primary function.
A table that requires assembly will give us more stability than a freestanding one - this is what we should choose first. The tabletop itself also matters, as it is the showcase of any bar.
Chairs - Modern Bar Stools Will Do the Job!
The main assumption of a bar is its multifunctionality. On the one hand, it should serve as a countertop - its daily use will assume using this function. Looking at it from another perspective, it should be a place where you can sit down for a quick drink or a longer chat. It can also replace the dining room. Whichever side we look at it from, we will probably come to one conclusion: we will need to get chairs, preferably ones that will fit perfectly into the standard our bar has been maintained in.

Here the choice on the one hand is simple, on the other - due to the ever-expanding market - not easy at all. The only option to consider are bar stools - aiming for elegance, we should choose leather or wooden ones. In the case of the former option, when sitting we will be able to feel like in a luxury bar. However, the leather must be natural, and although in this form it will require special care, it will certainly pay us back - with its unique texture, unusual appearance, smell and durability. From leather we can easily remove all kinds of dirt (as long as we react in time), which is very poorly absorbed by it. Eco leather is also an option - it is good for those who do not have a huge budget but want something close to real leather. Upholstered models with metal inserts will also work well here. Just take a look at the Alan H-1 bar stool, which combines minimalism with elegance and versatility.
A good bar stool is a great substitute for a standard chair - while a regular chair may look good, it will not create a unique bar atmosphere in our interior. And that is what we are aiming for. When buying bar stools, pay attention to the number of legs they are equipped with, but also to their load-bearing capacity. Given the characteristics of a bar and the average time spent at it, it is better for the stools to be comfortable but also stable - perfect here is the Colin B Velvet H-1 bar stool, stylish yet functional. It would also be very good if their height was adjustable. Although this option is found almost exclusively in the single-leg version, it can be valuable - especially if the height of our bar is non-standard (and it usually is), and the inhabitants of the house or apartment are of extremely different heights.
Summary
An elegant bar in your own living room can give the place a special atmosphere, breathe life into it and surprise your friends. Even if you do not want to practice bartending arts in it, but just pour drinks in the classic way, it will turn out to be a decor element not only phenomenal but also practical. So if you have enough space, consider including it in your own design vision. Necessarily with a solid table and tasteful bar stools in the lead role!
