Furnishing a small flat

Furnishing a small flat

Decorating an apartment with a very small space can be mistakenly described by some as easy - after all, it does not require huge purchases and spending a lot of money. However, it is not something as simple as it might seem. After all, it forces us to invest only in necessary, functional elements, and give up many that could negatively affect the visuals and space. It must therefore be smart, thoughtful, and often imaginative. So how to furnish a small apartment? We will present some of our tips in this post.

Kitchenette - Option or Necessity?

Designing a kitchen in a small apartment is always the biggest challenge. Not only are we forced to place the necessary equipment in it, in a way that is convenient for daily use, but we also have to weave in a place to eat. We can opt for a small kitchen, which will be quite difficult, or invest in the cry of modernity - a kitchenette. Its advantage is the possibility to optically enlarge the entire apartment and connect the kitchen with the living room. Thanks to the space obtained with this solution, you can weave into the arrangement a small table, for example, one from our extensive range. Necessarily minimalist, preferably in a bright style.

A kitchenette is a very good solution, economical - monetarily and spatially - and simply works well in everyday life.

Mezzanine - Something That Saves Our Space

The space of an apartment is not built solely by its square footage, but also... by its height. Above-average height can have a good effect on the spaciousness of the dwelling - it also provides opportunities to utilize the excess height. We can be tempted to build a mezzanine, which will be a great solution, eliminating the need to separate a room for a bedroom. The extra space will certainly come in handy - but remember that in order to use the mezzanine comfortably, it must be more than 1.4 meters (4.6 feet) high. Anything below that should be unacceptable. Let us also not forget about proper ventilation, but also that we need to solve the problem of access to it.

The Hallway - How to Squeeze the Maximum Out of It?

The hallway is the hallmark of every apartment - including the smallest one. When decorating it, we should focus on the most skillful use of space - the solutions available today will allow us to arrange a practical storage space within it (for example, in the form of a storage loft), but also to combine a seat with hangers. In the hallway necessarily place a large mirror - this excellently copes with the optical enlargement of the apartment, and at the same time plays an important functional role.

Bathroom in a Small Apartment

Every bathroom must include a washing machine, sink and toilet bowl. This cannot be avoided - but we can choose models that are small enough to meet the requirements imposed by limited space. Although bathtubs are very popular, in many cases shower enclosures will be much better - they take up little space, but require a little more attention from us. We need to ensure convenient access to the shower, but also the ability to open the door and the cabin freely. Space is often enlarged by giving up the shower tray and opting for a shower with a linear drain. Suspended furniture (including a toilet bowl) can also help.

When arranging a small bathroom, pay special attention to lighting. A suspended ceiling may be a good option, giving the possibility to use halogens - slightly less recommended are pendant lamps, which subtract some space. Even though they can look stylish.

What Counts When Decorating a Small Apartment?

  • appropriate lighting - light can be our greatest ally when decorating a small apartment - we can use it to accentuate selected design elements and create an impression of spaciousness;
  • appropriate color scheme - bright colors with a small level of variation can work wonders and make the apartment look larger;
  • proper decorative elements - mirrors, hangers, multifunctional stands - these are just some of those that really help in proper space management; each of them can be found in our store;
  • quantity minimalism - we should not overdo the amount of decorations, but also of furniture. Let us only choose those that are really necessary.

Summary

When arranging a small apartment, we need to show common sense and often ingenuity - because contrary to appearances, it is not so easy. Let us make sure to buy only things that are necessary, functional, and at the same time optically enlarging the space. These can be well-chosen mirrors, functional stands or hangers. Many interesting proposals can be found in our store, in versions perfectly suited to the needs of small rooms.
